LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say their recent traffic enforcement initiative featured a Ferrari driver who drove over 120 km/h in a 50 km/h residential area and rightfully paid the price for his dangerous actions.

According to a statement from Langley RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Mounties observed a red Ferrari travelling at 124 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone near Wagonwheel Crescent and 56 Avenue. A second radar reading of 123 km/h was registered exactly 97.9 metres away. Police say this level of speed in a residential area constitutes a significant risk to public safety.

Sgt. Sharoom says a 48-year-old Surrey man was fined $483 for excessive speeding, and the Ferrari he was driving was impounded for seven days.

“Driving at such excessive speeds in neighborhoods where families live and children play is completely unacceptable, ” said Sgt. Sharoom. “We take these violations seriously and will continue our enforcement efforts to keep our roads safe.”
