New family doctors to set up clinical practices in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — At a time when thousands of people in the Fraser Valley lack access to a dedicated general practitioner, Chilliwack stands to benefit from the arrival of three new family doctors who plan to establish clinical practices here in the coming weeks.
According to Chilliwack registered nurse Oluwatosin Dayo-Oyekole, United Kingdom-trained physician Dr. Gabriel Pekun will be working at Wayside Medical Clinic at 46298A Yale Road in downtown Chilliwack, one block east of District 1881. He is in the process of relocating from Calgary, Alberta, and will start the first week of June. Dr. Pekun will be working alongside Dr. Oyedayo Oyekole at Wayside Medical. Of note, Dr. Pekun’s intake roster is currently full.
Dr. Pekun’s licence to practice in British Columbia will become active on June 1. Of note, Dr. Pekun’s wife is also a doctor and starting her family medicine residency here in Chilliwack.
Two additional physicians who also trained in the United Kingdom will be arriving at the end of May as they relocate from Toronto. Dr. Ifeoluwa Adebayo-Begun, a male physician, will be operating a clinic at Heritage Medical Clinic, inside iHealth Pharmacy, at 45619 Yale Road. Heritage Medical Clinic is accepting new patients.
