CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack fire crews and RCMP members were dispatched Wednesday afternoon to Prest Road after a vehicle struck a BC Hydro pole.
According to scanner traffic, Chilliwack first responders attended Prest Road, about halfway between Prairie Central Road and McGuire Road, at about 3 p.m. after a vehicle collided with a utility pole, knocking it to the ground. The motor vehicle incident also reportedly took out a mailbox along Prest Road, too.
The collision resulted in Prest Road being blocked by RCMP members for an extended duration. Major traffic backups ensued on nearby perimeter roads.
Engine 1 from Chilliwack Fire transferred command of the incident to the RCMP at 3:11 p.m.
