
Langley man charged with striking, seriously injuring a traffic police officer: RCMP
LANGLEY — A Langley man faces multiple charges for his alleged actions during an August 2024 traffic stop that left a uniformed police officer seriously injured.
According to a statement from Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, a Langley RCMP officer was tasked with traffic enforcement duties in the 5000 block of 208 Street on August 9, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m., when the uniformed peace officer was struck by a vehicle.
Following a prolonged police investigation, Marek Grundza of Langley faces one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm; one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm; and and one count of failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.
“The Langley RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has worked diligently and conducted a comprehensive investigation, which has now resulted in charges,” said Sgt. Sharoom. “This hit-and-run has had a profound impact on the officer, who was seriously injured and is still in the process of recovering.”
