CHILLIWACK — Chiefs captain Mateo Mrsic had two goals and an assist, including the game-winner with 6:21 to play in double overtime, as the Chilliwack Chiefs took a 2-1 series lead in the BCHL finals Tuesday night against the Brooks Bandits at the Coliseum in Chilliwack.

The BCHL finals remain in Chilliwack for Game 4 with the Chiefs up 2-1 in the series.

Bandits goaltender Zach Zahara turned aside 46 shots in the loss, while forward Parker Lalonde netted a hat trick for the Bandits.

A video review took away what would have been another Lalonde goal for the Bandits in the first overtime period with officials ruling their was goaltender interference.

Over 13 minutes into the second overtime period Chiefs captain Mateo Mrsic scored his second of the game to give Chilliwack the win.

Mrsic is the older brother of former Medicine Hat Tigers forward Tomas Mrsic, who now plays for the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders.

The loss gave the Bandits their first back-to-back game defeat of the playoffs, and only their fourth loss since the BCHL post season began.

Game 4 starts with an 8 p.m. puck drop on Wednesday at the Coliseum.

The Bandits will be back at home for Game 5 Friday at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Regional Arena.
