Agassiz inmate hospitalized after assault

AGASSIZ — Correctional staff at an Agassiz prison say an inmate was hospitalized after an assault last week.
According to a statement from Correctional Service Canada, authorities say the assault happened last Tuesday, May 13 at Mountain Institution, a medium-security federal prison.
Mounties with the Agassiz RCMP detachment were apprised of the assault and are investigating. The person who carried out the assault has been identified and unspecified consequences have been taken, although CSC never says what those penalties involve.
No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.
