Abbotsford asking resident input on updated community plan

ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford is calling on residents to help shape the long-term future of their community by updating its Official Community Plan (OCP).

“Abbotsforward 2050” is now in its final phase of public engagement, and any input gathered during this period will be used to finalize the updated OCP before it is presented to Council this fall.

“Building on the foundation of the current OCP, which was adopted in 2016, the Abbotsforward 2050 updates aim to reflect updated community priorities, increase housing supply, respond to recent changes to provincial legislation, and consider the infrastructure, parks, amenities, and other supports needed for Abbotsford’s growing population,” wrote the City in a release.

Residents interested in sharing their thoughts can fill out an online survey or attend one of six public open houses:

  • Saturday, May 24, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre (near Purdy’s)
  • Wednesday, May 28, 6 to 8 p.m. at Mountain Elementary (2299 Mountain Dr.)
  • Saturday, June 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at McCallum Junction Parking Lot (across from Cabela’s)
  • Thursday, June 12, 4 to 7 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Library (33355 Bevan Ave)
  • Saturday, June 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre (near Purdy’s)
  • Friday, June 20, 3 to 7 p.m. at Highstreet Shopping Centre (the Plaza near Cineplex)

The survey is set to close on June 27. According to provincial mandate, the City must update its OCP by the end of 2025.
