ABBOTSFORD — An Abbotsford long-term care facility has received a comforting addition to a room that regularly sees some of the worst days in families’ lives.

Cottage and Worthington Pavilion now has a new sofa in its end-of-life room after a donation from the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF).

“Grief affects everyone differently and this new sofa is more than just furniture; it represents a commitment to providing a supportive and comforting environment for residents and their families during their time of need,” said Dr. Lakhbir K. Jassal, with FVHCF Donor Relations. “Little by little we let go of loss, but never of love.”

The sofa has been carefully selected for comfort and functionality, so families can have a more supportive space to grieve their loved ones.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation for their generous funding in making the addition of the sofa sleeper in our end-of-life room at Cottage and Worthington possible. Their support has created a space of comfort and compassion, allowing families to remain close during one of life’s most tender moments,” wrote the staff at Cottage and Worthington.
