VPD arrests man after apparent axe attack in DTES Vancouver

VANCOUVER — Police in Vancouver say a 30-year-old man has been charged after a man reported being struck by a small axe and robbed in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
According to a statement from police, Task Force Barrage officers on foot patrol were approached near East Hastings Street and Main Street just before 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. The 50-year-old victim, who was bleeding from his face, reported being struck by a small axe by a stranger, who then proceeded to steal his sunglasses.
Police say the victim sustained only minor injuries.
VPD officers promptly located and arrested the suspect, 30-year-old Steven Henry Hall, who faces two charges of robbery and breach of probation.
