HOPE — Mounties in Hope say a report of suspicious activity eventually led to a discovery of stolen property in late April.

According to a statement from Hope RCMP Staff Sgt. Michael Sargent, Mounties in Hope were dispatched for a report of suspicious activity on Friday, April 28 in the 17000 block of Silverhope Road in Hope. Police say their investigation resulted in officers locating a significant amount of stolen property consisting of a transport truck, two trailers confirmed to contain stolen property, stolen license plates and a large storage tank of diesel fuel.

Most of the stolen property was found to have originated from various locations throughout the Lower Mainland area. The investigation remains ongoing and charges have yet to be filed at this time.

Bylaw personnel from the District of Hope and Hope Fire Department also provided assistance.

“This is a great example of how a report of suspicious activity can lead to a larger scale investigation with positive results,” said S/Sgt. Sargent. “This also highlights the benefits of the community members and the RCMP working together to keep the community safe.”

Hope RCMP personnel encourage the public to keep reporting suspicious activity, persons and/or vehicles observed in the community.
