CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack gymnastics business that opened during the pandemic and has since grown to over 850 weekly participants has announced its expansion into a new facility just off Evans Road.

Kirsten Backus, gym director of Fraser Valley Gymnastix/Ambition Parkour and Ninja Fitness Academy, told Fraser Valley Today the thriving business plans to relocate to a new 21,000-square foot building within their existing industrial park on Commercial Court.

Fraser Valley Gymnastix opened in September 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. It is owned and operated by Kelowna Gymnastix, which launched operations in June 2012. Kelowna Gymnastix began offering Parkour programs in 2016 and then branched into Ninja training in 2020 just shortly before opening the Chilliwack location at 123-44981 Commercial Court.

The projected move to the new facility is slated to occur sometime in mid-summer 2025. The business currently welcomes about 860 athletes per week in classes between both programs, and also hosts school groups, youth groups and birthday parties.

Fraser Valley Gymnastix wrote in an email that the expansion is all about enhancing the user experience for participants. The facility will have air conditioning, a brand new foam pit that allows athletes to practice advanced skills, and a viewing mezzanine for parents and caretakers.

“This move represents a big step forward for our program,” Fraser Valley Gymnastix wrote in an email to parents. “We’re so grateful for your continued support that has helped us grow to this point. Our class schedule and coaches will remain the same—you’ll just enjoy them in an upgraded environment! We’ll keep you updated on the exact move-in date. We look forward to hosting a special open house with all of our active members.”

A second open house will be hosted at a later date for the general public.

“Thank you for being a part of our Gymnastics and Ninja family,” the company said. “We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue nurturing and developing young athletes. We are excited to continue building their confidence, resilience and passion for the sport.”
