ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford’s Gallery 7 Theatre is going meta for its closing production of the 2024-2025 Season– with an upcoming play about a play gone wrong.

Aptly named “The Play That Goes Wrong”, the comedy written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, is about the opening night of a drama society’s murder-mystery production. The night goes downhill as the leading lady is knocked unconscious and actors start tripping over everything, including their lines.

“Audiences are in for a hilarious night of theatre,” explains Ken Hildebrandt, managing artistic director of Gallery 7 Theatre. “Anything that could possibly go wrong during a performance of a murder mystery does go wrong, and we watch with amazement as a desperate troupe of actors try to follow the old adage, ‘the show must go on.”

The show is set to run May 9 and 10, 13 to 17, 20 to 24, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be matinees on May 10, 17 and 24 at 2:00 p.m.
