
Adult male pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on Highway 1 east of Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — Mounties say they are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that claimed the life of an adult male pedestrian.
According to a statement from RCMP Sgt. Andy Lot, Agassiz RCMP frontline members were advised on Monday night (Apr. 29) at about 9:53 p.m. that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle on Highway 1, near Popkum Road, in the westbound lane. The incident resulted in the death of an adult male pedestrian.
Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted while the RCMP conducted their investigation. The scene has since been cleared, and traffic is now flowing normally.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) responded to assist with the investigation. The driver remained at the scene, is cooperating with RCMP investigators, and impairment is not suspected.
