FRASER VALLEY — Brad Vis will represent the voters of Mission-Matsqui-Abbotsford for a fresh term after handily winning his riding Monday night.

Vis, who posted on social media that he and his team visited 51,000-plus homes during the 36-day campaign and distributed over 2,100 campaign signs, is heading back to Ottawa after winning his riding with a remarkable 57.7 per cent of the vote (as of 9:15 p.m.), turning back a challenge from second-place finisher Jeff Howe of the Liberal Party, who finished with just 34.6 per cent of the vote.

The NDP candidate, Fraser Valley native Jules Côté, received only 5.6 per cent of the vote, or 930 votes. She had campaigned on repeated themes about excessive corporate control over food production and housing in Canada and what she said were its negative impacts on society.
