8 displaced after early morning fire in Chilliwack home
CHILLIWACK — Volunteers came to help eight residents after the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to a house fire in the Fairfield Island area early Sunday morning, April 27.
At about 3:50 a.m., approximately 35 firefighters from five halls arrived in the 10000 block of Fairbanks Crescent to find heavy flames coming from the top floor of a home.
Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, kept it from spreading beyond the single structure, and performed an offensive fire attack.
“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department,” said Wade Meeres, assistant fire chief at Chilliwack Fire. “The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind all residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms on each level of their home and in each sleeping area.”
