LANGLEY — A more than 46,000-square-foot housing project has broken ground in the Township of Langley.

Compass Cohousing will be a unique residential space located at 6644 203 Street, featuring condominium and townhouse units that share common facilities and amenities. The concept originated in Denmark in the 1960s and eventually made its way to Langley with the WindSong Cohousing project in 1996.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Compass Cohousing to life,” said John Frederickson, one of the directors of Compass Cohousing Ltd. “It’s a place where people of all ages come together to live in the heart of a community, forming a vibrant, modern village nestled in the heart of Langley.”

“Our youngest member, Luna, is just 18 months old, while our oldest member is in their eighties.”

Compass currently includes 29 households planning to reside in the multigenerational community. Units range from studio-style condos to four-bedroom townhouses. The shared common house features a large community kitchen and dining area, with a lounge, reading area, workshop and more.

“Housing remains a critical priority for many communities, and in the Township of Langley, we’re committed to offering diverse, affordable, and flexible housing solutions,” says Mayor Eric Woodward, Township of Langley.

The project is a collaboration between Lark Group and Ankenman Marchand Architects. Construction is underway with occupancy expected in the fall of 2026.
