
Chilliwack Cultural Centre to host ballet retelling of Macbeth in May
CHILLIWACK — A Shakespearean tragedy is coming to Chilliwack this spring–
On May 10, the Chilliwack Cultural Centre will be hosting Macbeth as told through contemporary dance. Ballet Kelowna will be performing choreography by Alysa Pires, with music by Adam Sakiyama and visuals created by Okanagan landscape artist Jane Everett.
“Alysa Pires has choreographed some of Ballet Kelowna’s most beloved works, her pride in Macbeth shines,” wrote the Centre in a release. “This ballet marks the first time in over forty years that a Canadian ballet company has commissioned a female Canadian choreographer to create a full-length work.”
Guests can also take part in the “Cursed Masquerade” before the event, where they can come masked and dressed to the nines while sipping cocktails and enjoying live music.
