Chilliwack residents turn out for first advance polling day, prompting long wait times
CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack voters waited out in the sunshine for day one of advance polls.
Residents on social media have been sharing long lineups at various polling stations since they opened at 9 a.m. Friday, April 18. Users claimed it took 45 minutes to get through Stitó:s Lá:lém Totí:lt School, while those at Imagine High and GW Graham said the process took about an hour.
“An hour and a half to vote,” said one commenter. “Three stations for three areas. 657 was the biggest line and we were told they needed to get hold of Ottawa to see if they can put a second table. Unbelievable that this is a thing.”
Not all advance polling locations had a busy start, though. The Elections Canada office on 9214 Mary Street was reportedly clear this morning.
