New cancer detection equipment arrives in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD — The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation says advanced medical equipment that will significantly enhance early detection of cervical cancer has arrived at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
The foundation says a new state-of-the-art colposcope has been delivered to ARH thanks to the generous support of the foundation, which relies on donations to power its non-profit activities. The advanced medical equipment will significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to provide comprehensive gynecological care and early detection of cervical cancer.
The foundation says a colposcope is essentially a microscope with a light source, which allows for a magnified view of tissues and helps medical professionals identify abnormalities such as precancerous or cancerous lesions, genital warts, inflammation, and unusual blood vessel development. The enhanced visualisation capabilities will allow the team at Fraser Health to conduct more thorough examinations, detect potential issues at an earlier stage, and ultimately provide better care for patients.
FVHCF says it is proud to support Abbotsford Regional Hospital in its mission to provide exceptional healthcare service to improve patient care with more efficient and effective equipment.
