CHILLIWACK — Gas prices remain stubbornly high in Chilliwack compared to one municipality east of the city.

According to Gas Buddy, unleaded gasoline is currently priced in Hope at $1.409/litre at Chevron, Flying J, Centex and Shell stations.

Closer to home in Chilliwack, however, gas prices are nearly 10 cents a litre higher. Fraser Valley Today’s gas price tracker shows the cheapest gas in Chilliwack is $1.499/l at the Husky station at 6050 Chilliwack River Road just off Promontory Road. Other gas stations in Chilliwack are showing $1.519/litre.

Abbotsford isn’t a whole lot cheaper at $1.477/l, with other stations tracking at $1.479/l. A Facebook commenter reported later Tuesday morning that prices are now $1.449/l in Abbotsford.

Based on social media comments from the first two weeks of April after the B.C. carbon tax was eliminated, some motorists were hoping for much cheaper gas. On the morning of Tuesday, April 1 after the carbon tax got axed, Chilliwack gas stations saw a drop of over 10 cents per litre, but were still charging $160.4/l at many stations along Vedder Road.
