ABBOTSFORD — There’s been no shortage of impaired drivers in Abbotsford as AbbyPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit removed 13 drivers in a single overnight shift on Saturday, April 12.

“The increasing number of impaired drivers remains a significant concern for us. Many have asked why this is happening, and there could be various reasons,” wrote the Abbotsford Police Department in a social media post.

Officers have now taken more than 350 impaired drivers off the roads this year. Data from the first three months of 2025 shows a 74 per cent jump from the 198 drivers removed during the same period in 2024.

“Over the past year, AbbyPD has invested in additional training for our frontline teams to ensure they possess the best skills needed to detect and process impaired drivers,” said the Police. “One thing is certain: our teams are proactively working to remove impaired drivers and ensure road safety in our community.”
