MISSION — Mounties in Mission are investigating a carjacking in which two men with balaclavas pointed a gun and stole a Jeep last Friday (Apr. 4) in the Steelhead area.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr, two men who had finished hiking to Steelhead Falls arrived back at the trailhead parking lot at about 5 p.m. While one of the hikers went to use the washroom, the other returned to his vehicle. As he did, two males wearing balaclavas exited a white pickup truck that was parked behind the Jeep, pointed a handgun at the owner of the Jeep, and demanded that he turn over his keys. One of the offenders drove off in the Jeep, while the other departed in the white pickup. Fortunately, no one was injured. The investigating is ongoing.

Steelhead Falls is located several kilometres north of Mission.
