Affordable housing complex could be built next to Ruth and Naomi’s in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — A 75-unit apartment complex offering affordable housing for seniors, single-parent families and individuals with low to moderate incomes could be built next to Ruth and Naomi’s on Princess Avenue near downtown Chilliwack.
According to the text of an engagement letter obtained by Fraser Valley Today, Lookout Housing and Health Society has advised residents in the immediate vicinity that property at 46105 Princess Avenue is being considered for a proposed development. The letter was signed by Megan Kriger, director of development for the society.
The property itself has a rezoning application sign from the City of Chilliwack, but no timelines attached to it.
Lookout, which has provided safe, supportive and affordable housing for individuals and families in need across British Columbia for 50 years, says initial engagement for the project was completed in 2020. Since then, the society has collected community input and feedback to better inform plans.
