ABBOTSFORD — Correctional Service Canada says an 80-year-old inmate has died of natural causes at an Abbotsford prison.
According to a statement, CSC says the inmate died at Pacific Institution/Regional Treatment Centre while in custody. At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a jail term of seven years, one month and 13 days since June 19, 2024.
CSC says it cannot release the inmate’s name in order to comply with a court-ordered publication ban to protect the identity of the victim(s).
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
