Abby driver gets car impounded after clocking 3 times the speed limit for exam

ABBOTSFORD — Police had another busy Friday on Abbotsford roads, but one infraction stood out from the rest.
On April 5, the Abbotsford Police Department shared an encounter along Livingstone Avenue, where an 18-year-old BMW driver clocked 140 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
“When stopped, the driver claimed he was late for an exam and needed to make up lost time,” wrote AbbyPD. “However, excuses don’t override road safety. The driver received an excessive speeding ticket, and his vehicle was impounded.”
Traffic officers removed seven excessive speeders from the road overnight. So far this year, 127 cars have been seized for excessive speeding.
