ABBOTSFORD — Detectives with the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit have released a composite sketch of the male suspect connected to a sexual assault that allegedly happened in March.

According to a statement from AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker, police have provided the picture of the suspect in hopes of advancing the investigation into the assault that happened on March 24, 2025 at Mill Lake Park.

Police say an additional detail about the suspect indicates that he spoke with an accent, suggesting that English might not be his first language.

Sgt. Walker says AbbyPD uniformed officers continue to patrol the area on foot and in vehicles, maintaining a visible presence in and around Mill Lake Park. AbbyPD urges anyone with information about this suspect to come forward and speak to the police.

On Monday evening, March 24, AbbyPD Patrol officers responded to a report of a sexual assault in Mill Lake Park that occurred at 6:40 pm. A female victim told police she was walking westbound on the path beside the lake between Ashley Way and Alta Avenue. She was alone when an unknown man approached her, asking for assistance to take a photo with his cell phone. During this encounter, the victim was assaulted, and although shaken, she was not physically injured, police say.

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’8”, with a medium build, short black hair, and a short black beard. He appeared to be in his 30s and was wearing black pants, a black and white short rain jacket with white in the chest area and carrying a black umbrella. Investigators had been appealing for any witnesses who were in the park between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., or who may have had information about this incident, to contact the AbbyPD Major Crime Unit at 604-859-5225.
