UPDATE 6:20 P.M. WEDNESDAY: Fraser Valley Today has learned that Zeeshan Khan has been acclaimed as the Liberal Party candidate for Chilliwack-Hope.

Original story below:

CHILLIWACK — With just five days left until the nomination process closes, there are only two confirmed candidates in Chilliwack-Hope.

According to the Elections Canada website as of Wednesday morning at 11:45 a.m., only Green Party of Canada candidate Salina Derish and longtime Chilliwack-Hope MP Mark Strahl from the Conservative Party of Canada have been confirmed as candidates.

That leaves People’s Party of Canada candidate Jeff Galbraith and NDP candidate Teri Westerby as individuals who have not yet qualified to appear on the ballot when voters in Chilliwack and Hope cast their ballots.

Westerby held a campaign event over the weekend and posted pictures on his social media page depicting supporters signing nomination papers. Meanwhile, Galbraith has a meet-and-greet scheduled for tonight at the Chilliwack Curling Club.

There is now a Liberal Party candidate, Zeeshan Khan, for Chilliwack-Hope, but he has not been confirmed as a candidate on the Elections Canada website.

Elections Canada says the close of nominations for candidates is Monday, April 7, 2025. The complete list of confirmed candidates will be available on Wednesday, April 9.

Advance polling stations will be open on Good Friday, April 18 through Easter weekend until Monday, April 21.

General election day is Monday, April 28.
