Burning permit granted for Hope property to clear land

HOPE — The Hope Fire Department has notified residents of the municipality that a burning permit has been issued for property on Gardner Drive.

According to a social media post Tuesday morning (Apr. 1), Hope Fire personnel say the permit was granted for the purpose of land clearing at 65737 Gardner Drive.

The department says the exact time and dates for the permit can only be determined once the contractor meets environmental conditions for smoke venting as determined by the provincial venting index and the local bylaw.

It adds that it is the responsibility of the contractor to meet and abide by these requirements to comply with the permit.

The property in question is situated at the end of a quiet residential street, located east of downtown Hope by over two kilometres. According to BC Assessment, there is no home or building on the 0.319-acre parcel.
