ABBOTSFORD — Upwards of 30 residents have been displaced after a structure fire broke out at a multi-unit residential building Sunday evening in Abbotsford.

According to a statement from City of Abbotsford spokesperson Aletta Vanderheyden, Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service crews were advised of a fire just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening (Mar. 23) in the 31000 block of Peardonville Road.

Fire personnel arrived on scene and witnessed smoke emanating from the rear of a multi-unit residential building. Crews were able to put out the fire quickly, minimizing further damage, Vanderheyden said.

Two individuals were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Approximately 30 residents have been displaced as a result of the fire. Abbotsford Emergency Support Service attended to provide assistance. A reception centre was established at the Matsqui Recreation Centre, Vanderheyden said.
