AGASSIZ — Another inmate has been assaulted at Kent Institution last week, on March 18th.

According to the Correctional Service Canada (CSC), an inmate was injured following an assault at the maximum-security prison. The victim was then taken to an outside hospital for treatment.

“The assailant has been identified and the appropriate actions have been taken,” said the CSC in a statement released Wednesday (Mar. 19).

No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.

Agassiz RCMP and the institution are now investigating. As with all cases, the CSC says it will review the incident and take appropriate measures to prevent similar events from happening again in the future.

Two other inmates have been assaulted at the Institution in January and February this year. One assailant also received a second-degree murder charge for his involvement in a deadly cafeteria fight in December 2024.
