CHILLIWACK — Less than 24 hours after a shooting near Princess and Williams in Chilliwack, but with no apparent relation, B.C. RCMP have confirmed that a search warrant has been executed at a Chilliwack home.

According to an emailed statement sent by B.C. RCMP to Fraser Valley Today Saturday afternoon, police carried out a search warrant in the 45000 block of Alexander Avenue in Chilliwack.

However, because this search warrant is linked to an ongoing investigation, no further details can be released to the public at this time.

“Members of the public should expect a large police presence in the area for the next few hours,” B.C. RCMP said.

Based on multiple witness statements and bystander descriptions posted to social media, police have been on scene at the Alexander Avenue home next to a sign shop since Friday evening.

“Cops were on [the] condo roof watching,” said one commenter on Facebook. “We live in the buildings here, so we see. Seems the house there is being watched.”

Police maintain that there is no ongoing risk to the public, but residents are urged to avoid the area and follow any instructions from officers on the scene.
