
Canada’s Evan Dunfee sets world record in 35-kilometre race walk
DUDINCE — Canadian race walker Evan Dunfee has set a world record in the 35 kilometres.
The 34-year-old from Richmond, B.C., shaved seven seconds off the previous record of two hours, 21 minutes 47 seconds held by Japan’s Masatora Kawano since last year.
Dunfee also knocked more than three minutes off his previous best time to win the World Athletics Race Walking Tour distance in Dudince, Slovakia.
German runner-up Christopher Linke finished three minutes behind the Canadian. Mexico’s Jose Doctor was third.
