Construction starts on new supportive housing project in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD — People experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Abbotsford could soon find more shelter at 1610 Riverside Road.
BC Housing is working with the City of Abbotsford and Lookout Society, a local housing advocacy group, to begin construction on a new supportive housing project.
“These new homes will provide residents with a safe place to live with the support they need to stabilize their lives,” said BC Housing in a social media post.
The project will be made up of 63 units in a 5-storey building and include amenities such as an outdoor patio, an indoor lounge, and a dining area. There will also be Indigenous-focused spaces, with input and feedback from the Matsqui and Sumas First Nations throughout the design process.
