Camping reservations being accepted once again for Golden Ears Park

CHILLIWACK — Campers eager to visit Golden Ears Park can begin booking campsites this week as storm repair work nears completion.

Reservations for the park’s three front-country campgrounds opened this morning for stays beginning later this month. Gold Creek will be available for arrivals starting March 28, while Alouette and North Beach will open April 16. Reservations will follow a four-month rolling window, meaning campers can book stays up to July 19 today.

“Golden Ears Park is cherished by the residents of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows,” said Lisa Beare, MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows. “It’s a destination that brings people together from across B.C. and beyond, and I’m thrilled that access to the park will soon be open for individuals and families to enjoy once again.”

The park suffered significant damage during floods last fall, including washed-out sections of the Golden Ears Parkway, which provides road access to the campgrounds. A landslide also rerouted Viking Creek, further impacting roads and trails. Full vehicle access will be limited single-lane-alternating traffic to a small section of roadway until early May when the road is expected to reopen to full traffic.

Local businesses in Maple Ridge are thrilled to see the popular camping area reopened. “Our local businesses thrive thanks to the million-plus visitors we are fortunate to welcome each year. While you’re here, we encourage you to explore all that Maple Ridge has to offer,” said Maple Ridge Mayor Dan Ruimy.

Campers should visit the BC Parks website for reservations and updates on camping conditions across the province.
