Garbage truck strikes overpass on Highway 99 in Lower Mainland: BCHP
DELTA — A spokesperson for the BC Highway Patrol has confirmed that a Lower Mainland overpass was struck by a garbage truck Monday morning on Highway 99.
According to a statement from BC Highway Patrol spokesperson Corporal Michael McLaughlin, BCHP investigators are working with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) personnel after reports of an overpass strike on Highway 99.
The strike happened at 7:32 a.m. Monday morning on northbound Hwy. 99 at the 112 Street overpass in Delta. Police say the vehicle involved was a commercial garbage truck, but the truck did not stop at scene.
“Whenever a driver is involved in a collision with an overpass, no matter how minor, there is an obligation to report the incident,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with BC Highway Patrol. “BC Highway Patrol is working with our partners at CVSE to follow up with the driver and company involved in this overpass strike.”
