ICBC to begin issuing one-time rebates in just a few weeks

CHILLIWACK — Due to strong investment returns, the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia says all B.C. residents who had an active, eligible personal or commercial insurance policy in January of this year will receive a one-time rebate of $110.

According to a social media post from the provincial agency, rebates could start going out in just a matter of weeks, in mid-March, and more will be sent on a daily basis until the end of May.

ICBC customers will receive the rebate in the manner by which they paid.

ICBC is asking for patience from the public as they process an estimated 3.7 million rebates over the next two and a half months. It says it will be working exclusively with Canadian vendors to make these rebates happen.

Even after ICBC has issued customer rebates, the following factors could affect when you receive it:

  • Processing times at your financial institution or credit card issuer
  • The date of your payment plan’s next scheduled payment
  • Mail processing and delivery timelines in your community

All eligible customers will be sent a letter with details on how they will receive their rebate.
