CHILLIWACK — A spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP says police attended a Chilliwack gymnastics building over the weekend for an unclothed male inside the premises.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, Mounties responded to a report of a naked man inside the Chilliwack Gymnastics building on Young Road on Friday night at 9:20 p.m.

Cpl. Kiener says police were able to locate the male and arrest him in the parking lot attached to the building.

Cpl. Kiener says the male was held in custody over the weekend for court.

The man hasn’t been identified by police, but the man might be named once police confirm a few details.

It’s believed there was some kind of event or activity happening inside the facility around the time that the man entered.

A Chilliwack resident who wished to remain anonymous told Fraser Valley Today the male suspect allegedly fled the building after he emerged from a bathroom with no clothes on. The man is believed to have entered the building through a second door before hiding in an undisclosed location inside the gymnastics facility.

“My [family member] thinks the male came in the second door and hid in the bathroom where he took his clothes off and then came out,” the Chilliwack resident said. “He left when the minor screamed and ran upstairs to where the adult was.”
