HOPE — Hope Fire Department says it responded to a shed fire in the middle of the night early Tuesday, its fourth call for service in 12 hours.

The department says no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters after a small shed fire happened at 3:36 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The fire happened at 63961 Flood Hope Road, Silverhope Mobile Home Park. Two fire engines and seven firefighters attended the call. RCMP were also in attendance, according to a statement from Deputy Fire Chief Joshua Westcott.

Hope Fire says the blaze was contained, thereby stopping its spread to nearby structures.

The cause remains unknown and is under investigation.

In mentioning its fourth service call in roughly half a day, Hope Fire Dept. says it is currently recruiting for paid on-call firefighters, who are tasked with attending and fighting fires (structure, vehicle, wild land, etc.), providing medical assistance, responding to hazardous materials situations and motor vehicle incidents and participating in community service and public education events.

At a bare minimum, prospective on-call firefighters need to have completed grade 12 or equivalent, a valid class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract, the ability to pass an RCMP criminal and vulnerable sector check, be legally entitled to work in Canada and live in Hope on a full-time basis.
