
BC Highway Patrol responds to early morning car crash in Coquihalla River
HOPE — BC Highway Patrol has confirmed a single-vehicle collision on the Coquihalla Highway near Deneau Creek Friday morning (Feb. 21).
Spokesperson Corporal Michael McLaughlin told Fraser Valley Today that a grey pickup truck crashed into the Coquihalla River off Highway 5 at around 8:41 a.m. The truck landed on its wheels in the river, but the 59-year-old Princeton driver could not get out.
Hope Search and Rescue later assisted the occupant in leaving the vehicle. Paramedics were also on scene to help with the driver’s several non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver has been fined and police issued tickets for infractions.
