ABBOTSFORD — Their company began in 1978 with little more than a wheelbarrow and a shovel. Three years later, one brother jumped on board and together, they carved out a niche in the Fraser Valley.

Case Timmermans and his brother Erik invested years of hard work into building their Fraser Valley landscaping company, Timmermans Landscaping and Tree Service, bringing the beauty of nature straight to the doorsteps of homes and businesses throughout the region.

Online posts over the past week have paid tribute to the two Fraser Valley men who sadly died after falling through the ice in a tragic incident at Grace Lake, northwest of Agassiz, last week.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Case Timmermans. A humble servant of God, Case dedicated his life to helping countless individuals and families build better lives,” Pacific Peak Homes wrote in an Instagram post last week. “If you had the privilege of knowing him, you were truly better for it.”

Case is being remembered for his abiding faith and his remarkable kindness.

“Case, we are grateful for everything you did for others. Your kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on so many,” Abbotsford-based Pacific Peak Homes said. “Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the Timmermans Landscaping team. The world has lost a great man, but heaven has gained one. Rest in peace, Case—you are home with Jesus now. With love, The Pacific Peak Team.”

As a former employee, Louis Klok said he once worked with Case and Erik and remembered them fondly.

“Rest in peace, Case and Erik, two of my old bosses; great men to work with and be with,” Klok said. “God bless the families and my condolences.”

Darren Postma echoed those sentiments: “So incredibly sad,” adding a praying hands emoji. “Eric’s family… great guy, man of faith.”

Winks Home and Gifts, a boutique retail store at Vedder Road and Stevenson in Sardis, said, “So many great memories of both Case and Eric….From years ago. Prayers for the entire Timmermans families. Heaven just gained 2 Heroes.”
