IHIT deployed to Abbotsford after 19-year-old man dies following a serious assault
ABBOTSFORD — Homicide detectives have been deployed to Abbotsford after a 19-year-old man who was assaulted in late January succumbed to his injuries in early February.
According to a statement from IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong, AbbyPD was dispatched to a suspicious occurrence in the 2900 block of Victoria Street early Monday, January 27 at 1:52 a.m. Witnesses advised authorities that they witnessed a man being assaulted before being taken away in a vehicle.
Roughly three hours later, the 19-year-old victim was located in the Crescent Beach area of Surrey with severe injuries. He was transported to the hospital where he remained for treatment.
On Saturday, February 1, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation.
