
Man, 32, charged with second-degree murder in fatal stabbing outside Coquitlam pub
COQUITLAM — A 32-year-old man has been charged with one count of second-degree murder after a man was fatally stabbed outside a Coquitlam pub Friday night (Jan. 31).
According to a statement from IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong, the B.C. Prosecution Service has approved one count of second-degree murder against 32-year-old Timothy Vansnick. He remains under a provincial court detention order and his next court appearance is on March 3, 2025.
The other man who was arrested has been released without charges at this time. The investigation continues and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
“We would like to thank the staff and patrons at the pub who rendered their assistance and did the right thing by cooperating with the police,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “Their quick-thinking and willingness to help led to a swift arrest.”
