IHIT deployed after one person found dead at Langley homeless camp along Highway 1: RCMP

LANGLEY — Mounties in Langley say one person has been found dead after a fire at an encampment in the 19700 block of Highway 1 Thursday morning (Jan. 30).

According to a brief statement from Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, Langley RCMP received a report of a fire at an encampment along Highway 1 at 4:50 a.m. One person was found deceased.

Langley RCMP members are attending and working closely with the Township of Langley Fire Department and the B.C. Coroners Service.

“We are in the very early stages of this investigation and actively working to determine the full circumstance that led to this fatality,” said Sgt. Sharoom.

If you were travelling on Highway 1 between 192 Street and 200 Street around 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. and you have dash camera footage, please contact the Langley RCMP and quote file 2025-3085.
