CHILLIWACK — It wasn’t the best weekend for Kentucky Fried Chicken on Luckakuck Way in Chilliwack.

According to scanner traffic, Chilliwack firefighters were dispatched to the fast food restaurant at 45367 Luckakuck Way at approximately 9:40 p.m. Friday night for the report of a fryer fire. Engine 1 (Cheam Avenue fire hall) arrived on scene to find the building evacuated.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., Chilliwack firefighters notified emergency dispatch that the fire was out and crews were ventilating the building. All other units were advised to stand down.

The restaurant was broken into sometime overnight, according to a brief statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Teresa Parsons.

“There was a break and enter at the KFC overnight. Officers did attend and conducted an investigation but no suspects have yet been identified,” Cpl. Parsons told Fraser Valley Today in an email.

An employee at a business on Luckakuck Way told Fraser Valley Today that he saw Chilliwack RCMP members on scene at KFC Saturday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. The employee shared a picture of what appears to be a shattered entrance door made of glass.
