CHILLIWACK — Yet another Chilliwack business has been impacted by an attempted commercial burglary.

Leah Kooyman made a Facebook post saying Stone’s Speed Shop, located at 45953 Rowat Avenue west of Young Road in Chilliwack, was nearly broken into over the weekend (Jan. 19).

Stone’s Speed Shop describes itself as a full general automative and auto body repair shop that also specializes in hot rod customs and full restorations.

Footage shared by Kooyman shows a man approach the exterior of the business at 6:33 a.m. with what appears to be burglary tools in both hands. Kooyman’s post states it happened Sunday morning, though the video is date stamped Saturday, January 18. The man looks into a smaller window before peering into the main entrance for several seconds. He subsequently pokes at the front door in the 31-second video with a tool in his left hand. The man then hobbles away from the scene.

The man did not gain access to the business.

Kooyman said in her post, “Look out for this guy! Tried breaking into Stones Speed Shop Inc. this morning and has the tools to do it. Has been reported to the police.”

Subsequent images show the door unit damaged by the attempted break and enter.

The incident comes one week after a Ford pickup truck tried to gain access to the Unsworth Market by forcibly backing up into the front of the building through the convenience store’s parking lot. That break and enter was reported to Chilliwack RCMP as well in what a spokesperson described as significant damage to the convenience store.
