Man suffers serious injuries after being stabbed near Best Buy in Chilliwack Tuesday night: RCMP

CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson has confirmed that a man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in what police are calling a targeted incident near Best Buy on Luckakuck Way Tuesday evening (Jan. 14) in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener told Fraser Valley Today over the phone Tuesday night at 7:16 p.m. that a man has been transported to hospital outside of Chilliwack due to injuries sustained from the incident, which happened shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Cpl. Kiener says the General Investigative Support team is investigating the incident in what is being considered an aggravated assault.

“It seems to be managed by frontline responding members,” Cpl. Kiener said.

No suspect is in custody, but police are actively following all leads.

Social media lit up Tuesday night with reports that over 10 RCMP units and several ambulance units attended the scene.

Cpl. Kiener says police believe there is no ongoing risk to the public.
