Pickup truck driver takes out power pole in Abbotsford after fleeing police early Thursday

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say they’re looking for the driver of a grey Dodge pickup truck that crashed after authorities initiated a traffic stop for an insurance violation.

According to information provided by police, AbbyPD patrol officers attempted to pull over the pickup truck at 1:30 a.m. early Thursday (Jan. 9). The truck failed to stop for police and consequently crashed a short distance away, knocking out a power pole at the intersection of George Ferguson Way and Birch Street.

As of 6 a.m. Thursday morning, power remains off in the area for 157 affected customers.

The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot and remains outstanding. Police are appealing to anyone who saw the incident or may have dash camera footage to contact police.
