Chilliwack options for Christmas tree disposal

CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack is reminding residents of ways to responsibly dispose of their natural Christmas trees this holiday season.

Through January 10, residents participating in the city’s curbside collection program can place their natural Christmas trees at the curb by 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. To ensure pickup, trees must be cut into sections no longer than four feet, and all decorations must be removed.

For those who prefer to drop off their trees, the Parr Road Green Depot is offering free composting for natural Christmas trees during the last week of December and the first week of January.

The city says the trees will be turned into compost which will help to reduce landfill waste.
