CHILLIWACK — British Columbia will see its Federal Transfers increase in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The Federal Government announced that B.C. would receive nearly $10-billion total major transfers.

The first estimate of the province’s Canada Health Transfer was $7.548-billion, with the province also set to receive $2.404-billion in Canada Social Transfer payments.

The total transfers will be $430-million more than provided in 2024-25, which can be attributed to the guaranteed five per cent growth to the Canada Health Transfer through to 2027-28.

The more than $9.9-billion in transfers to B.C. are part of the nearly $103.8-billion to be transferred to provinces and territories in the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Quebec will receive the largest payment total of more than $29.2-billion, with Ontario to also receive over $28.7-billion.

Prince Edward Island will receive the lowest payments, totalling $977-million.

“A cornerstone of our economic plan is a robust social safety net and effective public health care,” Dominic Leblanc, Minister of Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs, said.

“This year, we are providing nearly $104 billion in transfers to provinces and territories. That’s close to $2 billion per week, every week, to help ensure that Canadians receive the public services — including health care, post-secondary education, social services and early learning and child care — that they need. Our government will continue to play its part in building a stronger, healthier nation for Canadians from coast to coast to coast.”
