LANGLEY — A Langley family’s holiday was nearly ruined after a break-and-enter left their Christmas tree bare, but swift action by the RCMP turned the situation around.

Police say suspects broke into a residence in the 26500 block of 28A Avenue during the early hours of December 22, stealing several wrapped presents from under the family’s Christmas tree.

“The story of the Grinch Who Stole Christmas had tragically become a reality for this family,” said Corporal Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP.

Using various investigative techniques, officers tracked down the thieves and recovered the stolen gifts.

“The tireless efforts of our front-line officers resulted in the recovery of the stolen presents,” Sharoom said. “We rewrapped the presents and returned them to the family to restore the joy of the holiday season.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Police have not disclosed whether any arrests have been made.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the break-in to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200, quoting file number 2024-41544.
